MOUNT STORM,WEST VIRGINIA -- Walter Blaine Hanlin, 100, of Mount Storm, died Sunday, May 31, 1998, at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg.

Born Oct. 7, 1897, in Scherr, he was a son of the late John W. and Rhoda (Iman) Hanlin. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Mae (Iman) Hanlin.

Mr. Hanlin was self-employed and retired from the railroad. A U.S. Army veteran of World War I, he was a life member of the Mount Storm VFW and the Mount Storm Lions Club.

Surviving are three sons, Robert L. Hanlin, Cambridge, Md., Donald M. Hanlin, Mount Storm, and Russell "Biddy" Hanlin, Hartmansville; two daughters, Marion Lancaster and Norma Kitzmiller, both of Mount Storm; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Friend will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, Md., Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Mount Storm United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Shelby Sisler officiating.

Interment will be in the Mount Storm Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy make the form of contributions to the Mount Storm Untied Methodist Church.
