V. Martha "Alice" (Neu) Meyers, 79, Springfield, MO, passed away June 26, 2007, in her home. She was born to Lawrence Charles and Martha Turner Neu, November 23, 1927, in Lima, Ohio.
On September 13, 1947, Alice married Robert "Bob" W. Meyers, son of Walter A. and Ruth Elizabeth Meyers. She met Bob after his return from serving in the Navy during World War II, while both were students at The Ohio State University.
They resided in Leipsic, Ohio, from 1950-1989 where they owned a florist shop. Martha had a long history of political and civic activities. She was distinguished as past Matron of Ohio Order of Eastern Stars in 1959 and 1983. She was a member of Daughters of American Colonists, and Daughters of American Revolution.
Bob and Alice moved to Springfield, MO, after retirement in 1989. Locally, she was past president of Springfield Opera Guild and an Officer in Hospitality Club.
She cherished all of her friendships, many of which were formed through her love of bridge and knitting. She was a member of the First and Calvary Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
Alice is survived by her husband, Bob; two children, Robert W. Meyers Jr. (wife Jan), and Martha Ann "Marty" Gentry; four grandchildren, Rob Meyers and Will Meyers (wife Megan), James Gentry, and Sarah Gentry (husband Bobby); and three great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by two brothers, James William Neu, and Charles Reid Neu; infant son, William Reid Meyers; and son-in-law, Dr. James Lewis Gentry, Jr.
