Ernest was the son of John and Laura Cope Hayburn.
Ernest married Edna Sharp, daughter of Charles and Pheba Carsey Sharp, on April 22, 1927 in Athens County, Ohio.

All three members of this young family were killed when their car was hit by a train. Ernest's sister Flossie, who was visiting her brother's family, was also killed in the accident.

FUNERAL RITES FOR HAYBURN FAMILY

Services Had Been Postponed To Await Arrival Of Body

GLOUSTER, Sept. 4--Because the body of Ernest Hayburn, Sr., was not brought from Dayton on Wednesday night as was expected, funeral services for Mrs. Hayburn and her two-year-old son, Ernest, Jr., victims of an automobile accident near Dayton, Labor Day, were not held Thursday morning.

The body of Mr. Hayburn arrived Thursday night and was taken to the house of Mrs. Hayburn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sharp at Trimble. Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Hayburn and their son were held at the Trimble Church of Christ this morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. G. B. Courtacy, of Chauncy, pastor of the church. Burial was made in the cemetery at Maplewood.
