DELMAR Kevin David Klein passed away on September 17, 2010 after a long illness. Kevin was born July 18, 1940 to the late Henry Irving Klein and Helen Mae Cade. Kevin graduated from Bethlehem Central High School and from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Mich. Kevin was a proud member of the 210th Armored Division, New York State National Guard, serving as a lieutenant from 1963 to 1969. He opened Sutter's Mining Co. (Sutter's) at 1200 Western Ave., Albany in 1973. Kevin was predeceased in death by his brother, Lt. Henry Irving Klein Jr. who was killed during the Vietnam War in 1966. Kevin is survived by his wife of 43 years, Susan Klein; his children, Melissa Anne Tremel (Michael), Park City, Utah, Henry Irving Klein III (Melissa), Slingerlands, David Kevin Klein (Sharyn Jones), Park City, Utah and Peter William Klein (Joanne), Kent, Wash.; his grandchildren, Alexandra Eagan, Andrew and Addison Tremel, Henry Irving Klein IV and William Klein, Scarlett and Tenneson Klein, and Sydney Klein. Kevin is also survived by three sisters, Virgie A. Clukey, Naperville, Ill., Erma Klein-Gjonaj, Delmar, N.Y. and Kristine A. Klein, Watervliet. The family would like to acknowledge with great affection the friendship of John Heckman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at The Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar, N.Y. Interment will be in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont, N.Y. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Lt. Henry I. Klein Scholarship Fund at Bethlehem Central High School in care of Donna Ann Bartlett, treasurer, Tawasentha Chapter, Daughter's of the American Revolution, 38 Ingalside Rd., Greenville, NY 12083 or the Delmar Rescue Squad, 145 Adams St., Delmar, NY 12054.
