Emma Witzke was born April 23,
1910, on a farm near Varina, Iowa in
Pocahontas County to Peter F. Schroder
and Florence M. (Post) Schroder. She
was baptized into the Christian faith
May 8, 1910, by the Rev. Fred Dourne
near Albert City. She was confirmed July
19, 1925, at St. Peter, in the first church
in the country, by Pastor James
Hartmeister.
She taught country school for two
years near Pomeroy. She married
Wilbert Witzke November 12, 1930 at St.
Peter.
She died suddenly after a long
illness July 16, 1994, at the Newell Good
Samaritan Home. She is survived by her
husband Wilbert, one son Robert and
wife Kathleen, Albert City; three
grandchildren Delbert Witzke and
fiancee Dawn Willems, David Witzke, and
Jill Witzke, Albert City; and one great
grandson Andrew Witzke; sister MeMna
Westfall, Orange, California; sister-inlaw
Catherine Witzke, Newell; two nieces
and two nephews.
She is preceded in death by a sister
Lorraine Witzke and brothers Raymond,
Lawrence, and George Schroder.
