Funeral Service for Joyce S. Embrey Orton, 89 of Oberlin, LA, were Tuesday, February 19, 2013, Labby Memorial Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA. Burial followed at Whitaker Cemetery. Mrs. Orton passed from this life on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Oakdale, LA.
Joyce was born in Oakdale, LA, and grew up in a sawmill town of Maub. She overcame childhood polio and was able to play High School Basketball and graduated from Sugartown High School. She left Quiska-Chita Swamp for the city of DeRidder where she found work at AT&T and stayed there until her retirement. She mentored several stepchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her son and wife of DeRidder, LA; daughter of DeRidder, LA; brother of Sugartown, LA; five sisters; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services were under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
