Thursday April 28, 1949 The Marion Sentinel:

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday for John Elliott Rohrer, 80, Marion resident for 43 years at the Yocom Chapel with the Rev. C.V.R. DeJong, officiating. Burial was in Oak Shade Cemetery.
Mr. Rohrer passed away at 8 a.m. Tuesday at this home, 1507 Fifth ave., after a brief illness. Born at Cascade, Iowa, March 29, 1869, Mr. Rohrer was married to Julia Ankeny, May 7, 1897 at Central City. They made their home in Anamosa until 1906 when they moved to Marion. Mrs. Rohrer died Jan. 21, 1939. He was a retired shop employee of the Milwaukee Road.
Mr. Rohrer was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by a son, Clarence D. Rohrer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Clara Reddish of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. l. Delores Shimerda of Cedar Rapids; a granddaughter, Jacquelyn Reddish of Riverside, Cali.; a brother, J. Gilbert Rohrer of Oakdale, Iowa; two sisters Mrs. Cory Keenan of Marion, and Mrs. Eva Weatherwax of Cedar Rapids.
