NEW BLOOMFIELD — Ruth M. (Ledger) Purpur, 91, formerly of Danville and a guest at the Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield, since 1989, died Thursday at the nursing home.
She was born June 28, 1905 in Scranton, the daughter of the late James and Anna (Schumacher) Ledger.
She worked in the occupational department at Danville State Hospital for 25 years, retiring in the early 1970s.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Spade, in 1972, and her second husband, Arthur Purpur, in 1989.
Also preceding her in death are two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are two sons, James Spade of Landisburg and John Spade of Troy; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday from St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the David J. Brady Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m.
