Greg was born on April 14, 1955 in Grand Forks, ND to Gordon and Lyla McLean of Gilby, ND. He graduated from Midway High School at Inkster, ND and received a BBA in Information Management from the University of North Dakota in 1985. During his schooling, he spent summers at home farming. Following graduation, Greg worked at Computerland in Grand Forks 16 years before accepting a position at the North Dakota State Mill in 1997 as Information Systems Analyst.
Greg built a portable camping trailer which he took from home to Cass Lake, MN every summer. His first loves were his family and friends. Hobbies included recumbent biking which found him on tours across Northern United States; other hobbies were geocaching, reading, kayaking, and sailing. Greg loved the great outdoors and especially watching sunrises and sunsets. "He knew how to enjoy the good things in life."
Greg is survived by his parents, Gordon and Lyla of Gilby, his sisters, Laura McLean of Gilby, and Elizabeth Misund (Eldar) of Oslo, Norway; his brother Burton (Tone) of Vestskogen, Norway; his nephew and nieces in Norway and his special friend Cheri Danks.
Memorial gathering: Greg's family invites his friends to come, reminisce and share their favorite stories about him. A memorial with hors d'oeuvres will be held Wednesday, November 17, 5:30 – 8:00 PM at Eagle Crest Grill, located on Kings Walk Golf Course, 5301 S. Columbia Road, Grand Forks, ND.
A private burial will follow.
