She is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years their three loving daughters and their five grandchildren.
Julie's great joy was her family. She was a devoted, energetic mother and grandmother and cared deeply for her family and broad network of friends. Preceded in death by her parents Helen and Floyd Newquist and sister Patricia Holton.
Julie was a life-long resident of Deephaven. She graduated with honors from Minnetonka High School and earned a BA degree from the University of Minnesota in 1969 where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. Julie was a primary teacher in the Minnetonka School District for 21 years, most recently she taught second grade at Excelsior Elementary School. Julie retired from her teaching career in 2005 having touched countless lives by teaching the children of many of her former students. Always optimistic,
Julie was a four-year cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2004 but continued to enjoy tennis, golf, skiing, bridge, boating, and brisk walks with her dog Lucy. Julie understood community, lived selflessly and humbly, gave of herself generously, and made our community so much better for her presence among us.
Visitation 5-8 pm Monday, August 7 at the Wayzata Country Club. A memorial service celebrating Julie's life will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 8 at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis.
Private interment Lakewood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Julie Webster Memorial Fund of the Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota-North Dakota.
