Daily Alta California, Volume 22, Number 7474, September 7, 1870: "Local Paragraphs. Information was received here yesterday of the death of Lester Burnett, at Long Bar, Yuba County. The deceased was sixty-five years of age. He came to this coast in 1850, and since that time resided at Long Bar. His body will arrive here today, and the funeral will take place from the residence of his son Judge W.C. Burnett. The time will be announced in tomorrows Alta."

Daily Alta California, Volume 22, Number 7475, September 8, 1870. "Died. At Long Bar, Yuba county, September 6th, Lester Burnett, father of W.C. Burnett, of this city, native of Hampton, Conn., late of Oakland county, Michigan, aged 65 years.

"Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at 2 o'clock, P.M. this day (Thursday), from the residence of his son, W.C. Burnett, corner of Laguna and Broadway."
