Mr. Britton was born July 13, 1908 in Mounds, the son of Benson and Emma (Gallion) Britton. He married Anna Cruse in Mounds in 1930 and she survives.
He was a retired Metropolian Life Insurance Agent and a member of the Congregational Church of Mounds; a World War II veteran; a member of Cairo Elks; and American Legion.
Other survivors include a son, Lt. Col. (Ret) John Britton, Jr., Mounds; a daughter, Mrs. DeaAnn Russell, Mounds; a brother Benson Britton, Villa Ridge; two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Kern, Paducah, Ky;
Mrs. Nellie Hickman, Independence, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
