MADISON - Aaron Curtis "A.C." Bowen, 79, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at St. Dominic's Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was born Jan. 17, 1926, in Calion, Ark. He lived in the Jackson area most of his life. He was a retired mechanic for Arkansas Best Freight. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, and a former member and deacon of Lake Harbor Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, repairing old clocks, and visiting the coast and the mountains with his family.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Ellen Hopkins Bowen of Madison; four daughters and sons-in-law, William and Linda Thurman of Canton, Howard and Mary Rael of Las Vegas, John and Trudy Barrett, and Robert and Connie Clay of Madison; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; four siblings, Dorothy Finn of Montrose, Colo., Gullick Bowen of Byram, Levell Bowen of Brandon and Archie Bowen of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, William Curtis Thurman; a brother, Garthie Rolland Bowen; and his parents, Ross and Frankie Bowen.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake Harbor Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 339, Sand Hill, MS 39161.
