SPEARMAN — Jackson Gail "Jack" Crum, 92, of Spearman died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton with the Rev. Ken Cole officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton and Spearman.

Jack was born July 7, 1920, in Ochiltree County to Martin Harold Crum and Susie Blanche Dodd Crum. He was born the seventh of eight children of Ochiltree pioneers and spent his entire life ranching and farming in the area. He has worn out many pairs of boots herding cattle for himself and other cowmen in the area.

A conversation with him yielded a wealth of the rich history of our area. He could tell you of dugouts and dirt streets in Perryton, of cattle drives from Wagon Mound to Booker and attending the old country school at Twichell, just north of the Crum family homestead, where he was raised. The adventures of wild horse roundups in Oregon with his younger brother, Grover Crum, were also among his remembrances.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include three daughters, Gail Boyles and husband Jack of Perryton, Kyra Keim and husband Glen of Clovis, N.M., and Myrna Watson and husband Ron of Cashion, Okla.; two sons, Qlo and wife Joan of Amarillo and Qua and wife Lynn of Spearman; two brothers, Grover Crum of Perryton and Ben Crum of Pueblo, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

A family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Spearman.

The body will be available for viewing from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Perryton.

The family suggests memorials be to Museum of the Plains, 1200 N. Main St., Perryton TX, 79070; or Cal Farley's Boy's Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174-0001.
