Celestin Thibodeaux
"On Tuesday evening, at 4:42 o'clock, Celestin Thibodeaux died at the residence of his son, Charles Thibodeaux, in Opelousas, aged 79 years, 1 month and 25 days.
The death of this venerable old man takes away from earthly existence a mortal of exceptional integrity and worth. When Mr. Thibodeaux said something it was positive to a high degree. 'His word was his bond'--he dealt with mankind with the belief that all should be as honest and straight-forward as himself.
If your dealings with him were honest and truthful, he was your friend.
If you deceived him, he was your relentless and everlasting enemy.
Pity it is that there are not more men of his type.
Peace to his ashes."
