Funeral will be Friday for Ralph D. Baker, 1272 Glenwood Drive, Sharon. He died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday (8-6-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 84.
Mr. Baker was born Aug. 21, 1915, in Sharon to John Ross and
Sarah Webb Baker.
The 1933 alumnus of Sharon High School attended Westminster College, New Wilmington, and retired in 1980 after 47 years from Sharon Steel Corp.'s former Farrell plant, where he was a general foreman in the coating department.
An Army veteran, Mr. Baker served in the 284th Combat Engineer Unit in Europe during World War II.
He attended Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon, and belonged to Free and Accepted Masons Shenango Lodge 668, Sharon.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Martha M. Roberts, whom he married Dec. 16, 1936; a son, Ralph D. Jr., Brookfield; two daughters, Mrs. William Carl (Carol Ann) Shellenberger,
Haver, Mont.; and Mrs. William D. (Martha Lee) Smith, Hermitage; a brother, William P., Masury; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn R. and Robert D.
Burial: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
