From Lebanon/Marion County, Ky, grew up on farms near Popes Creek Road, attending the Bethel Union Church. When her grandfather Murphy died in 1919, her family moved into his house.

As children, they walked through the woods to the church, changing into their good shoes at the edge of the woods behind the church along with all the other kids. After church they'd change back...

Virginia told a story of visiting the old farm many years late with brother Arthur. They told that owner a story- One night, Otis Gribbons heard a thieves in the barn, trying to steal livestock. Otis emptied his pistol at the barn door. The thieves ran off, unhurt. The holes were still there and shown to the farmer, who had wondered about their origin.

Worked many years as regional manager for Stanley Home Products. During WWII at parachute mfg facility in Lexington. First Lexington address was 286 Simpson, later address Liberty Road. Married to Sam Buck.
