Mrs. Bowers was born Oct. 5, 1935 to Glendon and Hazel (Gaudette) Poland. She graduated from West Lebanan High School, N.H., in 1953 and from the Concord School of Nursing in Concord, N.H., in 1957. She was a surgical nurse in Burlington, Vt., Tucson, Ariz., Woodland, and retired from Burgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Mich., in the early 90s. She was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Church and the Sisterhood of P.E.O.
Survivors include Mrs. Bowers's husband of 43 years, Robert C. Bowers of Windsor, N.H., three brothers, George G. Poland of White River Jct., Vt., Richard W. Poland of Windsor, Vt., William G. Poland of Cornish, N.H., many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Mrs. Bowers's name be directed to the charity of donor's choice.
Services: A visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor, VT A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. where Rev. Paul N. Belhumeur of Mississippi will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Windsor, VT. the Knights Funeral Home of Windsor, VT is assisting the family with arrangements.
