Surrounded by her loving family, Mary B. Nittinger Morningstar, 75, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2004, after bravely battling an extended illness.

Mary was born in Williamsport, Pa., on July 23, 1928 to Charles and Barbara Miller Nittinger and moved to Sayre as a teen-ager. While lovingly raising her children, Mary was employed as an Emergency Room Unit clerk at the Robert Packer Hospital, where she made many close friends and helped many people during difficult times. As a loving mother, caring grandmother, special sister and aunt, and thoughtful friend, she unselfishly cared for others, even baking for staff and supporting friends in the Dialysis Unit while receiving treatment herself.

Mary was an avid sports fan, enjoyed cooking for her family, baking for her friends, co-workers, fellow patients and staff and tending to her flower gardens at home. Her constant companion was her dog, Lady. Mary will be greatly missed.

She is survived by: sons, Charles F. Doty of Sayre and Larry Thomas Doty of Sarasota, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Geraldine Woodruff of Sayre; daughters and sons-in-law, Joan A. and Gene Chaykosky of Waverly, N.Y., and Shirley and Steve Cheplick of Elmira, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Robin Woodruff of Florida; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 20 at 10 a.m. at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home, 225 S. Main St., Athens, with the Rev. Benjamin Lentz, pastor of the Church of the Redeemer, Sayre, officiating.

Burial will be in North Flat Cemetery, Laceyville, Pa.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to her church, the Church of the Redeemer, 201 S. Wilbur Ave., Sayre, Pa. 18840.
