***Somers GI Dies In Viet Action***
SOMERS - Sp. 4 Roy C. Newsome, 20, of Sokol Road was killed in action in Vietnam May 23, in the Hamburger Hill battle, according to the Department of Defense.
He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division. Prior to entering the service he was employed by the General Electric Co. credit office in Hartford.
Besides his parents, Royal and Elaine (Buckle) Newsome of this town, he leaves his wife, the former Marlyn Penfield of Simsbury; a sister, Mrs. Lester Norrie of Windsor, and his grandparents, Mrs. Margaret Randall of Springfield, and Mrs. Nettie Newsome of Somers. Somers funeral home is in charge.

Burial will be in West Cemetery with full military honors. Calling hours at the funeral home are tonight from 7 to 9.
