"..... Patience Atkinson was born in 1770 North Carolina and died in 1842 in Greene County, Georgia. Patience married Richard Smith 1790 in Wilkes County and moved to Greene County by 1796.Richard Smith was born in 1767 in North Carolina and died after 1840 in Greene County,Georgia.Richard and Patience Atkinson Smith had five children: Nathan born 1793, Nancy born 1795, James(ancestor) born 1798, Martha born 1799, and Alexander born 1811."
1)Nathan Smith b.ca 1793, eldest son, married March 30,1815 Fanny Smith b ca. 1797, married by Robert Rhea who also married Nathan's sister Nancy Smith to Benjamin Futral and Mary "Polly" Smith who m. Jesse Kenney/Kinney. Nathan died before April 1847 at only 54, and Fanny was already dead before Nathan wrote his will. Ironicaaly son John died shortly after and son Joel in 1852. Nathan and Fanny had ten known children many living in Greene County. page 159/60 Hertiage Book- Unknown burial site
2)Nancy Smith,b ca 1795 m.October 17,1811, Benjamin Futral, b. 1781 in Northampton County,North Carolina, son of Etheldred (sr) Futral- In Greene County,Georgia by 1809 on tax digest as defaulter. by 1830 Benjamin and Nancy in Henry County, Georgia which in 1851 became part of Spalding- they had fourteen known children, eight born in Greene County. from page 159 - unknown burial site

Jesse Kenney/Kinney on September 17,1816, most likely son of Joshua and Catherine Langston Kenney who married in Greene County on November 25,1789- she was later listed as weaver/seamtress after her husband died- Greene County,Georgia Hertiage Book page 146/47- Unknown burial site

Patience Atkinson was born 1770/71 in Edgecombe County( note by gh- area of birth later became Nash County), North Carolina.In about 1792 she married Richard Smith, whose roots were probably in North Carolina, close to the Atkinson family. All attempts to identify Richard's parents have been fruitless. Patience Atkinson and her husband Richard, had at least six children:

All but the last of these marriages produced very large numbers of descandants including Atkinson, Arvet,Bryan,Bufford,Futral,Gaissert,Griffin,Hailes, Harper,Hudson,Huff,Jackson,Johnson,Kenney/Kinney,Leach,Ledbetter,Linch/Lynch.
