Lynn was born the fourth of five children to Charles E. and Louise "Lula" Lynn Jensen. He married Pauline Bever in 1926 and they raised two children, Beverly and Lynn "Sonny" Jensen. In 1930 they were living with his wife Marge's parents in Los Angeles where Lynn worked as a service station salesman. In 1940 he worked as a riveter in an aircraft factory. Marge died in 1955 and Lynn married Winifred the next year. He became a foreman at Douglas Aircraft. He died a few years later in Santa Monica where his family had originally moved from Kansas.
