Joe Lewis Leslie quietly passed from this life on Saturday, November 27, 2004, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born April 6, 1917 to the late Lizzie Britt and Lewis J. Leslie in Wildersville, TN. He leaves his devoted wife of 64 years, Josie Lee Rhodes Leslie, and two children, Nancy Lou O’Brien of Searcy, AR and Albert Lewis of Conway, AR. Joe Lewis was a lifetime member of the Broad Street Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for many years before his retirement. He always enjoyed singing and being a song leader. He served four years in the U. S. Coast Guard during WWII and was a Post Commander of the American Legion in Henderson County. He owned the John Deere farm implement dealership in Lexington long ago and knew everyone in the county. His most recent profession was being a secondary school teacher for the U. S. After retirement back to Lexington, he enjoyed church activities and working with senior volunteer programs in Henderson County. For those wishing to make memorial contributions, the family requests those be made to Freed-Hardeman University, Harding University, or the Broad Street Church of Christ building fund.
