Julia Ann was the youngest child of John and Nancy (Lough) Stoops. She died at 17 years of age in Lane County and is buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Lane, Oregon.

"John Stoops, his 2nd wife Phoebe Parker Stoops, and their family crossed the plains by ox team, leaving in May 1853 and arriving in Oregon in Oct. 3 1853. They did not linger in the Dalles but came directly to Lane County, arriving 3 Oct 1853. Their claim was settled 17 Oct or 1 Nov 1853. The family included John's three children by first wife, Nancy (Lough) Stoops, who died in 1850: William M. Stoops, Malinda J. Stoops, and Julia Ann Stoops. The fourth child on the trip over the Oregon Trail was Martha E. Stoops, a baby girl born in 1852 in Illinois to John and 2nd wife Phoebe.
