Jacob was the son of John and Mary Haley.

Around 1855 he married Mary E Tibbetts.

Their children were Sanford W, Orren T, Emma, and John W. His wife, Mary, died in Rangeley on Dec 17, 1865.

Around 1868 he married Lydia M. Brown, daughter of Trueworthy Brown and Ardelia Cargill.

Some of their children were: Edwin M, Susan M, Herbert, Ida, and Frank Elmer. They also had at least two others, a daughter in April 1869, and one other. In 1900 only 5 of their 7 children were still living.

He lived most his life in Maine. Then for a while in Whitefield and Lancaster, NH. Jacob had been in Plymouth, NH for a year before his death.
