Molly Jo attended Lone Oak School for 12 years, and graduated in in 1960 as second in her class. Then starting in June 1960 and on through the early months of 1962, Molly attended Draughon's Business College in Paducah and took an Executive Secretarial curriculum of typing, dictation, shorthand, English, business math, accounting, bookkeeping, and business law. She also worked part time while attending school at Draughons. After graduation, she worked at several businesses in Paducah, including a travel agency located in the Irvin Cobb Hotel and as an agent for Ozark Airlines in Paducah.
Molly Jo was married twice, first to Ronnie Atherton and they had two children, and second to Charles Young and they had no children.
Molly Jo contracted small-cell lung cancer in 2007, and she died from cancer at her home on Phillips Avenue in Paducah, KY, on January 9, 2008. On Jan 11, 2008, graveside services for Molly Young, 65, of Paducah were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Kenton Cemetery with the Rev. Topper Council officiating. Mrs. Young died at 1:52 p.m. Wednesday at her home. A native of Paducah, she was a graduate of Lone Oak High School and Draughon's Business College. Mrs. Young was a certified nurse's aide for Lourdes Homecare and Hospice. She was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her husband, Charles Young; one daughter, Kyra Atherton Hodges of Centreville, Va.; one son, Quinn Atherton of Huntsville, Ala.; one brother, Lynn Trainor of Centerville, Ohio; and two grandchildren. Her parents were Joe Trainor and Pauline Stratton Trainor. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Keeling Family Funeral Home.
