ROANOKE RAPIDS — David Milliken Dickens 88, of Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday Nov. 6, 2012.
Mr. Dickens, a native of Halifax County, was the son of the late Lonnie Gordon and Mollie Millikin Dickens.
Mr. Dickens graduated from Weldon High School and was retired as assistant Post Master at the U.S. Postal Service, Weldon office, after 30 years of service. After retiring from the Post Office he was Manager of the Chockoyotte Country Club for several years.
Mr. Dickens is survived by his wife, Catherine "Sis" Merchant Dickens; his son, Paul Haydon Dickens; his daughter, Mollie Ann Dickens Grill, of Skytop, Pa.; his granddaughter, Hannah Catherine Grill, of Stamford, Conn.; his brother, Robert G. Dickens, of Cheraw, S.C.; his sisters-in-law, Paula L Merchant, of Chapel Hill, and Pearl Dickens, of Roanoke Rapids.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements.
There will be a private burial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to St. Marks Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 234, Roanoke Rapids NC 27870.
