The Correctionville News, 22 February 1951, page 1: Cynthia Jane Huff was born February 8, 1866, to John Wesley and Carylin Patterson at Postville, Iowa, and passed away February 15, 1951, at Jefferson, Iowa. She spent most of her girlhood at Postville. In December 1887 she married Wesley Huff. Shortly after they moved to a farm at Grand Meadow where they resided several years. Later they moved to Nebraska where, after farming several years, they made their home at Martinsburg, Nebraska, until Mr. Huff's death. She came back to Iowa and as long as she was able, devoted her time to nursing. In 1932 she went to work for O.L. Keck. She resided in Correctionville a short time, moving later to Grand Meadow. When her health failed she went to live in the home of Charles Arbuncle in Jefferson. She passed away at the age of 85 years. She was a faithful member of the Evangelical Church, a life member of Morning Star W.S.W.S. and The Loyal Christian Sisters. Survivors include nieces Mrs. Sam Wood of Correctionville, Mrs. Lucy Shirkey of Sioux City and Mable Whyte of California; and nephews Charles Patterson of Jefferson, Ted and Leslie Patterson of Pierson, and Elmer Root of Nampa, Idaho. Mrs. Winifred Arbuncle of Jefferson and Mrs. Dora Flisher of Washta were also nieces. Funeral services were held at Morning Star Church with Rev. E.J. Berreth officiating. Interment was made in Grand Meadow Cemetery.
