John Stephen Spear, 95, passed away Wednesday, Feb., 13, 2013. Service: 3 p.m. Monday in Arlington Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Parkdale Cemetery, Arlington. Visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Arlington Funeral Home. John was born Oct. 16, 1917, in Deport. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and later graduated from North Texas Agricultural College. During this time he met and married Margie Martin in 1937. John retired from General Dynamics after 35 years. And was a member of Arlington Masonic Lodge #438. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Margie; parents, Grover and Lillie Spear; children, Wayne Spear and Delores Rainey; grandchild, Brian Spear; and sisters, Effie, Bertha, Nell, Eliza and Martha. Survivors: Daughter, Jean Sherwin and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Lisa, Steven, Jimmy, Ed, Tricia and Bill; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
