Lovingly know by most of her family as "Jo Mama," Jo Anne was called home on February 10, 2013 after a prolonged battle with cancer and a failing heart. Jo Anne was born in Payson, Utah and lived there until she married and then traveled to many places with her first husband before settling in Redding over 50 years ago.

She accomplished great many things throughout her life, including working on a well-drilling rig, manufacturing bee keeping products, retail sales at Montgomery Wards and seamstress work (from making simple kids' outfits to elaborate ball gowns). She made many dresses that were worn by "Job's Daughters", Rainbow for Girls and her "Eastern Star" sisters. Jo Anne even found time to teach sewing at Shasta College for a time.

Serving as the Worthy Matron for the Order of the Eastern Star and the Queen of the Red Hats Group (Les Chapeaux Rouge), allowed her to share her gentle spirit with many people. One of Jo Anne's greatest accomplishments was opening her heart and her home to many others.

Jo Anne is survived by her loving husband of sixteen years, Dennis Carr and her son, Duane Woods. She is preceded in death by her two husbands, Fay Woods and Lloyd McCants; her children, Patricia McCants, Eldon Woods, Floyd Woods, Carol Woods; her sister, Mitzi Green; her brothers, Billy, Glen and Neal Manwill. Besides her only son, she helped raise more than 15 step-children who have gone on to provide many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by: Teresa McCants, Dave McCants, Greg McCants, Michael McCants, Donna Pratt, Sean Carr, Mike Carr, Danny Carr, Marc Carr and Deborah Carr.
