GALESBURG - Mr. Lawrence Boyd, 76, Galesburg, died at 10:55 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in Heartland Health Care Center.
He was born Dec. 4, 1936, in Galesburg, the son of Fernando Rocha and Marie McNeair Boyd. He married Rebecca Woods on June 15, 1974, in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Perry Woods of Ridgefield, Wash., Jeff (Barb) Woods of Galesburg, Kim (Brent) King of Dahinda, and Lori Woods-Way of Spring Valley; two brothers, Rev. Harold (Ella) Boyd of Galesburg and Kenneth (Diana) Boyd of Rockwall, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kris Woods, Cary Williams, Shannon Williams, Samantha Woods, Jeremy Woods and Elijah Woods and Tyler Woods; and six great-grandchildren.
He worked as a diesel mechanic for Burlington Northern Railroad for 46 years. He retired Nov. 31, 2001. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1956. He enjoyed gardening, his family, all things railroad and old western movies.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Prayers will follow by Rev. Harold Boyd and Rev. Jon Sibley.
