George E. Chambers, 76, a World War II veteran, retired foreman for the Bureau of Reclamation and a resident
of Montrose, Colo., for 31 years, died Dec. 2, in the Montrose Memorial Hospital.

Chambers was born in Burlington, Colo., July 5,1923,
the son of Pete and Lillie (Gillian) Chambers.
He graduated from high school in Cheyenne, Wyo.

During World War II, he served in the United States Army under General Patton.

He married Clarissa Tiffee Oct. 2, 1943, in Hugo, Okla.

He was a 50-year member of the Masonic and York Rite
Lodges, a Past Post Commander of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars, Superior, Neb., and was a past president of the Electricians Union in Cheyenne, Wyo.

Survivors include his wife, Clarissa (Tiffee) Chambers, Montrose; three sons, John, Pasadena, Texas; Joe,
Grainville, Idaho; Don, Grand Junction, Colo., and two daughters, Mrs. Dan Robinson (Jane), West Jordan,
Utah; and Margaret Chambers, Inland, Neb.; eight
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Chambers; and one sister, Clara Mae Chambers, both of Superior.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Services were officiated by Masonic Lodge members Dec. 6,
in the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel, Cremation followed the service.
