At the time of his birth, Scranton and all of Lackawanna County was part of Luzerne County.

"Charles Bennett Taken by Death' 58 Survivors.

Charles D. Bennett. 82, 1940 North Main AVe., died yesterday morning at Clarks Summit State Hospital after a long illness. He leaves 58 survivors.

A lifelong North Scranton resident, Mr. Bennett was a member of Court Street methodist Church and a veteran of the Spanish-American War. He had been self-employed as an excavator. His son, Luman died two years ago.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Irene Cadden and Mrs. Edna Silberman, New York City and Mrs. Mabel Webb, this City'' Three sons, Vern, this City, and Earl and William, New York City' 20 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will beheld Saturday at 2 p.m. from the John P, Evers Funeral Home, 1660 North Main Ave. The Rev. Harry F. Brooks, Court Street Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.
