I paid a visit recently to the summit of Hector and viewed the alleged gold mine on the farm of Wallace Townsend. While I did not see any of the gold myself, I was informed by Mr. Townsend that it was there. Mr. T. has also tried brick making and huckleberry farming and occasionally swaps horses. His blacksmith shop adds one other source of revenue. He has an interesting family of eleven children, who are worth their weight in Hector Hill gold."
