RANDY EDWARD WARD 44 years of age of Statesville, NC, formerly of Hurley, VA passed away Sunday, February 20, 2005 at his home. Born in Buchanan County, September 27, 1960 he was the son of Janie Helton Williamson of Big Rock, VA and the late Clyde Ward. He was a retired coal miner, an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting and riding horses.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Jessie Helton and Huldie Helton; paternal grandparents: Stewart Ward and Noamie Stacy.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father: Dennis Williamson of Big Rock, VA; two sons: Jessie Alan Ward and Jason Randall Ward both of Statesville, NC; three step-sisters: Michelle Peck, Mary Rice both of Big Rock, VA, Gail Maynard of Lovely, KY; three brothers: Rockie Allen Ward and wife Sherry, Ricky Dean Ward and wife Sandra all of Hurley, VA, Kevin Clyde Ward and wife Sheila of Big Rock, VA; three step-brothers: Lonnie Williamson of Hurley, VA, Benny Williamson of Stanton, VA, Denny Williamson of Pikeville, KY; one nephew: Kevin Tyler Ward of Big Rock, VA; two nieces: Kristy Nichole Ward and Kelly Lynn Ward both of Hurley, VA.
Funeral services for Randy Edward Ward will be conducted Friday, February 25, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, VA with Elder E. C. Honaker and Reverend Paul Rife officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, VA.
Active Pallbearers will be Luther Harrison, Austin Blankenhsip, Bobby Richardson, Michael McClanahan, Lenard McClanahan, Lonnie Williamson, Mark Helton and George Helton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Services will be held Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
