Martha "Angel" Fain Brooks, age 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and widow of Robert "Bob" Brooks, Sr., went to be with the Lord after a brief illness at Broadview Assisted Living Facility in Tallahassee, Fla. Sept. 9, 2012. Angel was born at home near the Capital City Country Club in 1923. She was the youngest daughter of Llewellyn Donalson Fain and Louise Clark Fain of Tallahassee, Fla. and was the fourth of seven children. She married Robert Aubrey Brooks, Sr. in 1947, the youngest son of Alva and Cassie Brooks of Jacksonville, Fla. Angel and Bob initially lived in Jacksonville and moved to Angel's hometown of Tallahassee in 1952. They raised three children while Martha worked in the Leon County Public School system, teaching at the elementary level at Hartsfield and then at Kate Sullivan. In 2006 she and Bob retired to St. Teresa Beach, Fla. Her interests included quilting, garment making, water color art, gardening, raising canaries, reading and sailing, as well as mentoring new teachers and her children and grandchildren. She and Bob were married 63 years until his death in April 2011, and she provided loving strong support for her husband throughout their marriage. Mrs. Brooks is survived by a son Robert, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Linda Fannin Brooks of Tallahassee and their son Tim; daughter Rebecca and son-in-law Fred Pinckney of Atlanta, Ga. and their sons Steven and Andrew; and daughter-in-law Barbara Watson Brooks of Palm Bay, Fla. whose husband Bill predeceased his parents, and their sons, Taylor and Hunter. A Memorial Service will be held at Ochlockonee Bay United Methodist Church, 2780 Surf Road, Panacea Florida at 2 p.m. Sat., Sept. 15, 2012. The family will receive friends after the service at the Church with light refreshments served. Martha's ashes will be scattered later by the family by the dock at St. Teresa Beach. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Ochlochonee Bay United Methodist Church. (Based on an obituary published in the Tallahassee Democrat online edition Sept. 13, 2012 and re-written).

I will gladly transfer this memorial to any close family member at their request.
