Following his service time, Harry enrolled at Eastern New Mexico University where he lettered in basketball and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.
In 1951, Harry began a 37 year basketball coaching career that began at House, N.M. This included 34 years as head basketball coach at six colleges — Western State Colorado, where he earned a masters degree in secondary administration; Fresno State University; Eastern New Mexico University; Wichita State University; North Texas State University; and Stephen F. Austin State University with 534 wins.
Harry's record included 12 post-season tournament appearances; six NCAA — four at Fresno State, one at Wichita State, and one at SFA; one NIT at SFA; five NAIA — two at SFA, three at Easter New Mexico; with a National Championship and a third place finish at Eastern New Mexico, plus numerous coaching honors.
Harry and LaNora (Tillie) Graham were married Aug. 12, 1951, at Portales, N.M., and she still survives him. They have three sons, Bob and Tom of Nacogdoches, and Gary of Tyler. Harry is also survived by his sons' wives, Ardan, Patty and Dorota; granddaughters, Claire, Isabella and Sophie Miller; step-grandchildren, Ember, Will and Anna Ashby; and three great-grandchildren, Bryana and Nolan Ashby, and Emerson Carden.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at North Street Church of Christ.
