COCHRANTON — Richard Lee (Uncle Dick) Clevenger Sr., 73, of 4773 N. Franklin St., Cochranton (East Fairfield Township), died at 6:32 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at UPMC Hamot, Erie.

He was born in Meadville on Dec. 19, 1939, a son of Ira Purl Clevenger and Adeline Neff Clevenger. He married Virginia Pearl Rhoades on June 28, 1958.

Dick was a retired Pennsylvania Department of Transportation operator. He had also worked at Harts Lawn and Garden, was a self-employed milk hauler, worked at CPT, Erie and Meadville Malleable, drove school bus, and worked at Jamestown Toy Company and Windy Hill Farm.

He was a member of St. Mark's Church of Christ and on the board of directors, lifetime member of the Cochranton Sportsman Club, National Rifle Association member, Sons of American Legion, AHPA member, member of the Antique Tractor Association, Wild Turkey Federation and North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed helping at the Soup Kitchen, loved hunting, cutting wood, game dinners, golf, listening to blue grass music and enjoyed working on lawn mowers and cars.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Virginia Pearl Clevenger; four children and their spouses, Lesa and Frank Barnes of McKean, Richard and Pam Clevenger of Cochranton, Katrina and Brian Proctor of Cochranton, and Shannon and Timothy Lang of Saegertown. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Joshua and Jonathan Barnes, Rachel (Clevenger) and Bryan Little, Johnna Clevenger, Shelby and Brianna Proctor, Andrea Maddox (Lang), Benjamin, Casey, Dillon, Seth and Zachary Lang; his great-grandchildren, Jamie Clevenger-Heald, Lexxis Maloney-Barnes, Cheyenne and Rylee Barnes and Lucus Little; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Heather and Cailan Maddox. He is also survived by a sister, Sylvia Hays of Atlanta; a brother, Donald Clevenger and his wife, Cindy, of Sheakleyville; a special aunt, Anne Clevenger; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Wilburt Clevenger, an infant, and Adelbert Clevenger, 28.
