Josephine Rebecca Bullard Griffith

Josephine Rebecca Bullard Griffith was born to Clifton and Winnie Davis Bullard in the Bellevue Highlands community on March 1, 1918. She went home to be with the Lord at the age of 89 on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007. She was a 1936 graduate of Etowah High School and a charter member of Bellevue United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be at Bellevue United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Dr. Harris Hand and grandsons, the Revs. Scott Ford and Jeff Ford, officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and Scott Bullard.

Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Bullard, Jimmy Bugg, all Mrs. Griffith's nephews, friends and neighbors of Bellevue Highlands community.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Paul F. Griffith Jr.; son, Paul Clifton (Buddy) Griffith; grandson, Jack Griffith; twin brother, James Bullard; brother, Kenneth Bullard; and sisters, Agnes Wright and Julia Ray Bullard.

Mrs. Griffith loved her church and the community of Bellevue Highlands. She was a Gold Star mother, a member of Friendship-Dorcas Sunday School Class and a volunteer for Baptist Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years, receiving a thousand hour pin. She was an avid fisherman and supporter of Atlanta Braves baseball. She was a precious, loving mother active in all her children and grandchildren's lives from Cub Scouts, R.A. Mitchell PTA and UMYF and all ballgames. She leaves behind many special friends and family but was greeted by many at heaven's gate.

Special thanks to Gadsden Regional Hospice staff, Dr. Castillo and Dr. Pate's office, Physicians Home Health Care and Danny Guest.

The body will remain in state and visitation will be for two hours prior to service at Bellevue United Methodist Church. Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.

The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Bellevue United Methodist Church - Children's Department or the Etowah Baptist Mission Center.
