Joy Merline Bennett Harmon 79 of Holden, UT passed away peacefully at home February 12, 2013. She was born February 3, 1934 in Holden, UT to Samuel Bennett Jr. and Solena Bell Emett. She married Stanley O. Harmon on November 3, 1953 in the Manti LDS Temple. She grew up during the depression and she learned to work hard with her family.

Joy was an active member of the LDS church and was involved in many of its organizations. She served a mission with her husband to Nauvoo. She also served nearly 9 years as an ordinance worker in the Manti LDS Temple with her husband.

Joy was a very good cook and had a reputation for making wonderful dinner rolls as well as her famous cinnamon rolls. She was asked to work as the custodian for the Holden Ward Church and served there for 18 years.

She enjoyed traveling and visiting family in their camper. Quilting and sewing were talents that Joy enjoyed and she made many quilts for her family as well as friends.

After they had all their children she had the opportunity to welcome Karl Clark, an Lamanite placement student into their home and he has been a great blessing in the lives of all the family.

Survived by her husband of 59 years Stanley Harmon, Holden, UT; children, Suzanne (Thane) Hillestad, Provo, UT; Clair (Ellen) Harmon, Orem, UT; Donna (Vern) Cotterell, Orem, UT; John O. (Jen) Harmon, American Fork, UT; Karl (Hillary) Clark, Las Vegas, NV; 19 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, James (Jenette) Bennett, Malta, ID; Jonathan (Virginia) Bennett, Sandy, UT; Lenna Joan Jones, Enterprise, UT. Preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Virginia Bennett, Samuel Emmett Bennett, Mary Charlesworth, Albert Bennett, Wilford Bennett and Ivan Bennett.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holden LDS Chapel. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. both at the Holden Ward Church. Interment in the Holden Town Cemetery.
