1931 - 2013

Emily Sanders, 81 of Branchland, departed this life Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at her residence.

Born August 20, 1931, at Four Mile in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Elijah and Minnie Belle Tooley Adkins.

Emily was a member of the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church at Henlawson. She enjoyed her many flower and bulb gardens and reading. Emily crocheted afghans and made a lot of her own clothes.

Also preceding her in death was her husband of 62 years, Herbert "Mousie" Sanders, four sisters, Alice Adkins, Vernie Cremeans, Goldie Adkins and Arbadella Watson, and three brothers, Roy, Raymond and Abram Adkins.

Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Connie (Tom) Keeney of Chapmanville, two sons, Walter (Terry) and Lyle (Darlene) Sanders, both of Henlawson, six sisters, Alpha Childers, Corine Brafford, Bess Adkins, Maxine Adkins, and Joan Watson, all of Ohio, and Cassie Mills of Henlawson, two grandchildren, Chris Sanders of Henlawson and John Browning of Boone County, two great-grandchildren, John and Lydia Browning of Omar, and her in-laws, Jewell and Hurbert Ferguson and Cain Sanders of Four Mile.

Services will be held at noon Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Freeman Funeral Home, with John Freeman and Orville Syner officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
