Donald C. Blank of East Dundee Funeral services for Donald C. Blank, 86, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. The Rev. Scott Seidler will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East Cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Born June 7, 1918, in Burlington, Ill., the son of Samuel and Lorena (nee Davis) Blank, he died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. Don was a lifelong resident of the Dundee area and was a former 25-year employee of Sears Roebuck Company of Elgin. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps in the 603rd division and was a member of the Army Air Corps Band. Don was a musician in the Dundee area for many years and played string bass in many local bands. Mr. Blank was an honorary lifetime member of the Musicians Union. He was a longtime member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Dundee. Don is survived by his children, Douglas (Kathy) Blank of Cleveland and Cathy (Steve) Bergholt of Hampshire; a granddaughter, Jennifer (David) Hecht of Seattle; grandsons, Scott Blank of Seattle and Matthew Bergholt of Hampshire; his brother, Lloyd Blank of Elgin; sisters, June (Arnold) Huske, Joyce (John) Ross and Doris Richardson, all of Elgin and Marjorie (Ora) Thomas of Goreville, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Marion L. Holtz Blank, whom he married Sept. 25, 1948, and who passed away Jan. 6, 2004; his sisters, Naomi Busche and Ruth Paulin; and his brothers, Norton and Lennon Blank. Please omit flowers.
