Marion Powers (age 96) passed away peacefully on February 7 at her home in McCall.

Marion was born on July 9, 1916 in Sandpoint, Idaho to Dr. Houston and Hannah Snyder. Marion grew up in Carey and Gooding. She graduated from St Teresa's High School in Boise in 1933 and from Albion State Normal School in 1935.

It was at Albion where Marion started dating Bill Powers. She had known about Bill for years because he was a star athlete.

Marion's first job was in Hagerman - she had 47 1st graders! Later she taught in Glenns Ferry and Idaho Falls.

Marion and Bill were married August 27, 1938 in Wendell. They began married life in Filer, later moving to Kimberly. They purchased their home in McCall in 1957 when Bill became McCall school superintendent. Marion influenced many young lives as she taught 1st grade in Kimberly, Payette, and McCall schools.

Marion loved her family and family gatherings at the McCall home were her favorite. She was an avid hiker, walker, golfer, huckleberry picker and cross country skier. She came in 3rd in her age group in Bloomsday in Spokane and 1st in her age group at the Women's Celebration Run in Boise.

She was a proud University of Idaho graduate and was an avid Vandal supporter all of her life. Marion loved to dance, sing, play the piano and was a long time member of PEO. She was always ready for a good time with her children and grandchildren and loved to dress in elaborate costumes for parties.

Marion and Bill enjoyed spending winters in Mesa, Arizona after they retired. We will miss Marion's big smile, her positive and loving nature, her zest for life and her special passion for having fun!

Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 1998 and her brother, Houston.

Marion is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Mary Jo Lambert (Art), of Sandpoint, Judy Arnt (Steve), of Boise and Mickey Hill (Ken), of Spokane; six grandchildren; and nine grandchildren.
