Mrs. Young was born in Cherokee County, AL, on April 21, 1931, the daughter of the late Daniel Webster Lambert and the late Nettie Atkinson Lambert. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for the greater part of her life and was a member of the Church of God. Prior to retirement Mrs. Young was associated with Sears for several years, with Morgan Hunt Oil Company and with Smith Realty Company for a period of time. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Lee Young, on January 23, 2012, to whom she was married on December 31, 1948.
Mrs. Young is survived by a daughter, Joni Holland of Rome; two sons, Greg Young and David Young, both of Rome; one sister, Monica Lambert Trapp of Rome. Two grandchildren, Daniel and Amanda Young and three great-grandchildren also survive as do nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of the life of Opal Inez Lambert Young will be held today (Tuesday), February 28th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Lambert officiating. Interment will be private.
