James, 91, of Peoria died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Rosewood Care Center, Peoria.
James was born July 8, 1916, in Castleton, Ill. the son of Charles and Ethel(Martin) Sturm. He married Elizabeth Lackie in 1939 in Bradford, Ill. She died Feb 27, 1989.
Surviving are two daughters, Karna (David) Slifer of San Francisco, Calif., and Chris (and Rennie) Blancaflor of Peoria, Ill., five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Chuck Sturm of Bradford, Ill. His parents and one son, James L. Sturm, preceded him in death. He was a machinist at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 36 years, retiring in 1976. He also worked for Illinois Audio Visual. James was a member of First Baptist Church, Peoria, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb 22, 2008. The Rev. Tom Bayes will officiate. Visitation will be our hour prior to funeral services. Burial will be in Osceola Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Fri. 22, 2008. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Peoria.
