GLOUSTER--William Mingus, 74, Glouster Route 2, died unexpectedly at his home Friday morning. He was born July 15, 1896, in Athens County. He is the son of Joseph and Augusta (Taylor) Mingus.
He was a member of the Green's Run Church of Christ, Capital City Lodge 656 F&AM, the Fraternal Order of Eagles' Lodge 297, a member of the Franklin Post No. 1 of the American Legion in Columbus and was a veteran of WWI.
A former miner, he worked for 20 years at the army depot in Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Bessie H. Leifler; three daughters, Mrs Maxine Hamond of Obetz; Mrs. Hazel Joyceline Deffenbaugh of Columbus; and Marylou Fraizier of Dayton; three sons, Frederick J. of Chicago; Lewis of Auburn, WA; and Walter of Columbus; 18 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arch of Glouster Route 3; and Ed of Danville; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Bentley of Columbus; and Mrs. Pearl Leffler of Redtown.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Van Fossen Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Johnson Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery. Masonic services will be 7 p.m. Sunday. The McCann-Frederick Post of the American Legion will meet one half hour prior to Monday's services. Friends may call anytime Sunday.
