Milton was one of ten or twelve children born to Bridget and John Henry Morf. He was the fifth of their six children who lived to adulthood.

When Milton was born the family was living in Plymouth Township, the family had owned a farm southwest of Merrill. By 1889 the family was living in Washington and by 1900 the family had settled in Olympia.

Milton only had an eighth grade education.

Milton married Gertrude Mae Sweeney and together they had at least three children:
-Dolores, who grew up to become a Registered Nurse at a Hospital
-Urban
-John "Jack"

In 1910 the family lived in San Mateo and by 1920 had moved to San Francisco.

In 1930 Census records show that he was a salesman in a retail establishment, possibly a furniture store. The family lived at 3816 California Street in San Francisco, which they rented for $50 a month. (There is now a parking lot at this address for a hospital across the street.)

By 1940 Milton and Gertrude had moved to 570 Lombard Street which they rented for $42 a month. (There is still a house there.)
