Mrs. Joe A. Bailey
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a. m. in Bradley-Agent Funeral Home Chapel, for Mrs. Joe A. ( Mattie ) Bailey, 88, pioneer Muskogee resident, who died Tuesday at Bedford, Indiana.
Reverend Fisher Blanton, pastor of First Methodist Church, of which Mrs. Bailey was a life long member, will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, land for the establishment of which was donated to the City of Muskogee at its inception by her father.
The daughter of C. M. and Eliza J. Murphy, Mrs. Bailey was born February 19, 1874, on a farm North of what is now Muskogee in Creek Nation, Indian Territory, owned by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jobe. Her mother was born on the same place in 1842, and the property is still owned by relatives.
Mrs. Bailey was a past matron and charter member of Hope Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and held a life membership in Hope Chapter.
She is survived by a son, Joe M. Bailey of Bedford, with whom she had made her home the past 12 years.
