He married Hattie Smith on February 14, 1914 in Murphysboro. Mr. Chancey leaves his wife, a son, Ray Chancey of Murphysboro, and a daughter, Mrs. William Lipe of East St. Louis. One daughter, Mrs. Woodrow McCoskey, preceded him in death.
Mr. Chancey was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a retired painting contractor and a former business agent for the former Murphysboro painters local union. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 670. He died at the age of 81 in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.
