Elizabeth E. McAlpine, 68, died unexpectedly July 29, 1978, at a Calais hospital. She was born Dec. 16, 1909, in Alexander, daughter of William and Nettie (Fickett) Strout. She was a member of the Peoples United Methodist Church of Woodland. She is survived by her husband, Everett; two sons, Calvin of Middletown, Pa., and Barry of Woodland; one daughter, Mrs. James (Maralie) Merrithew of Woodland; one brother, Allan Strout of Old Town; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl (Mildred) Higgins of Woodland; Mrs. Hazel Pomeroy of Prescott, Ont.; Mrs. Raymond (Winnefred) Shaw of Wellesley, Mass.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home in Calais with the Rev. James Lufkin officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The family requests that those who wish may donate in her memory to the Maine Heart Association.
